Recent advances in spares management and modeling are changing the supply chain management landscape. As with other logistic disciplines involving analysis and optimization, TFD Group has been in the forefront of these new methodological developments. This seminar has been created to inform senior management of these advances and show how they can be used to improve the creation and management of the simplest or most complex supply chain.
The course is aimed at senior management. Although the topics are frequently technical and some mathematical and modeling background will be useful, it is not necessary. The course is much more oriented toward the introduction of a conceptual framework with which a non-technical manager can understand and guide the discussion of how his or her company or agency can move forward in improving the management of the supply chain. The basic concepts used in decision-aiding mathematical models are discussed to the level needed to gain a reasonable understanding of their application and capabilities – as well as their short-comings. These concepts are then applied to the expanded discussion of where the field is going and what new capabilities are now available.

The seminar staff is led by Robert Butler, CEO of TFD Group and the author of many of its software models, including, in partnership with Craig Sherbrooke and John Millhouse, the VMetric model. Kevin Griffiths, TFD Group’s CTO, is the chief architect of the TFD Data Vault and is largely responsible for developing TFD’s software training courses. John Millhouse is the Group’s Chief Scientist and the author of the most recent of TFD’s software models, including TORQ, the computational heart of our Support Chain Optimization system. Chris Hampson has been a skilled users of VMetric for many years and in a variety of settings.
