Course Details With the release of EDCAS® 3, the first Windows version, significant new functionality has been added. The concept of a Maintenance Event, first introduced with MAAP, has now been applied to EDCAS® making the input of repairs and scheduled maintenance more intuitive. The graphical user interface allows the description of more complex operating and support environments, while retaining the ease of data entry for which the earlier versions were known. This course is aimed at previous users of EDCAS who have upgraded to version 3, but is equally applicable to those who are new users. It covers the general theory of analytical models and the place of EDCAS in the TFD Suite; a detailed tour through all aspects of the software, interspersed with practical exercises to ensure that participants are comfortable in the modeling environment; discussion of the use of EDCAS in dealing with real-world problems, illustrated with case studies; general comments on how to approach analytical problems; and a description of the operation of the EDCAS engine. Participants are encouraged to bring with them data and/or descriptions of general or particular problems they face in their work; these will be discussed in open forum and, hopefully, guidance or recommendations of possible approaches given.
